Excuses and exemptions

An excuse forgives one absence. An exemption takes someone out of the roll for the whole term. Reaching for the wrong one is the most common mistake on this page.

What it is
ExcuseA member's request about one event, with a reason. Someone with the Attendance permission approves or declines it, and the decision is recorded.
ExemptionAn officer marking someone out for the whole term — studying abroad, injured, on leave. They come out of every mandatory event's eligible set and sit at a distinct place on the roster, not at 0%.
